How to move between rooms, towns, and locations
Getting Around - Movement in Ghelmyon
Every location has named exits. Use any of these to move:
Quick compass directions:
n, s, e, w Bare compass letter, fastest form
ne, nw, se, sw Diagonals
u, d Up / down (stairs, ladders)
n2, e3 Numbered same-direction exit
(when 2+ exits share a compass)
Named exits (when you don't remember the direction):
go cellar Move to a named exit
enter market Synonym for go
go north Full compass name also works
Longer trips:
walk to <place> Auto-walk anywhere you've discovered
/map See nearby exits visually
/atlas Full world map
Inspecting before you commit:
look See current room + exits
exits Just the exit list
peek <direction> See a neighbouring room without
actually moving (good for sneaking)
Intercity travel:
From a town's gate / docks / edge location, named
intercity destinations appear as exits - e.g. from Ghelmyon
Town Gate you can `go thornwood` or `go millhaven`.
Use `/atlas` to see all the towns + the routes between them.
Failed movement tips:
- "Unknown exit" responses list the actual available exits.
- "You can't reach X from here" means X exists somewhere
else; check /atlas or /find <name>.
