How factions track their relationship with you (dormant/engaged/allied/rival/broken)

Faction State

Each faction tracks its relationship with you on a state
graph that sits on top of raw reputation:

  dormant    You haven't interacted yet.
  engaged    You've accepted or completed a faction quest.
  allied     Friendly+ rep AND faction trusts you.
  rival      Hostile rep — they treat you as opposition.
  broken     Irreversible. A major betrayal severed the bond.

Transitions:
  dormant → engaged    First quest accepted/completed
  engaged → allied     Reputation reaches Honored band
  engaged → rival      Reputation drops below Unfriendly band
  allied → engaged     Reputation drifts back below Friendly
  rival → engaged      Reputation climbs back to Neutral
  any → broken         Major betrayal (irreversible)

Why this matters:
Endings, ending eligibility, and some shop / dialogue
branches read your faction state, not just your raw rep.
Two players with the same Pale-Hand reputation but different
states see different shops, dialogue, and ending paths.
