Confront an NPC and demand their valuables
Robbery
Rob an NPC directly — confrontational, not sneaky.
Higher risk than pickpocketing but bigger rewards.
Commands:
rob <npc> Confront and rob an NPC
burgle <npc> Same as rob
hold up <npc> Same as rob
mug <npc> Same as rob
Mechanics:
- Skill check: Intimidation + Strength vs target Strength
- Success: take 30-60% of their gold + chance of an item
- Critical success: take 50-80% gold + higher item chance
- Failure: target turns hostile and fights back
- Fumble: disguise broken, guards alerted, bounty added
Modifiers:
Night Easier (darkness provides cover)
Wilderness Easier (fewer witnesses)
Market Harder (crowded, many witnesses)
Guard post Harder
Crime heat Repeat crimes at the same location are riskier
Consequences:
- Target always turns hostile (even on success)
- Massive trust loss with the victim
- Honor loss (reduced vs criminal NPCs)
- Bounty added in the local town
- Thieves Guild rep +5 on success
- Town Guard rep drops
- Cooldown: can't rob same NPC again for several phases
Restrictions:
- Can't rob essential NPCs (quest givers, trainers)
- Can't rob guards (they attack immediately)
- Can't rob in safe areas
- Can't rob during combat
- Can't rob dead NPCs (use 'search body' instead)
