Town Population

The world of Ghelmyon is alive with people beyond just the named NPCs you interact with.

NAMED NPCs:
Important characters — shopkeepers, trainers, quest givers, guards — are
fully simulated with schedules, opinions, and dialogue. When you approach
a new NPC, they become fully active.

TOWNSFOLK:
Background characters go about their daily routines. They appear as
unnamed townsfolk in busy areas and contribute to the atmosphere.

CROWDS:
Markets, taverns, and public spaces have population levels that
change with the time of day:
Dawn — Quiet, few people about
    Morning — Peak activity
    Afternoon — Busy
    Evening — Winding down
    Night — Nearly deserted

Population affects the feel of a location but not gameplay mechanics.
A bustling market feels different from a deserted one.
