Getting Started — Your First Steps in Ghelmyon
You've just arrived in the city of Ghelmyon. Here's what
you need to know to get started.
Essential Commands:
look / l See where you are
go <direction> Move (e.g. go n, go sw)
enter <place> Enter a location exit
attack/att <target> Fight a creature
"<name> <message> Talk to an NPC
/inventory / i Check your belongings
/stats / st View your character stats
/quest / q See active quests

Your First 5 Minutes:
1. Type 'look' to see your surroundings and exits
2. Type 'enter market' to visit the Market Square
3. Use 'go n/s/e/w' or 'enter <place>' to move
4. Head to the sewers and 'attack rat' for combat
5. Loot what you kill, sell at shops, get stronger
The tutorial quest (The Newcomer's Path) will guide you
through these basics automatically. Type /quest to check
your current objective.

- Chain commands with ; enter market ; buy ale
- Tab completes names, items, and locations
- Most commands have short aliases (l, i, eq, st, m, q)
- Avoid ;) in speech — ; is the command separator.

Finding quests:
- Visit the Town Square notice board
- Talk to NPCs — some offer work
- Quest chains unlock as you build reputation
Quest types:
visit Go to a specific location
kill Defeat a type of creature
find Obtain a specific item
deliver Bring an item to an NPC
Completing quests:
- Tutorial quests auto-complete when done
- Regular quests: visit the turn-in NPC
- Rewards: gold, reputation, sometimes items
Quest chains:
- Multi-step story arcs with bonus rewards
- Type /quest to see progress and objectives
- Some chains require faction reputation to start

Earning Gold¶
How to make money early on
Earning Gold Early On
You start with 50 gold. Here's how to earn more:
Tutorial rewards:
- The Newcomer's Path chain gives 110 gold total
- Just play normally and it completes itself
Combat loot:
- Kill creatures, loot their drops
- Sell pelts, claws, and materials at shops
- Rats in the sewers are easy early targets
Work jobs:
- Type 'work' at a tavern or workshop
- Steady income, no combat required
Other income:
- Forage in wilderness areas
- Gambling at the arena (risky!)
- Quests from the notice board
- Crafting and selling finished goods
Tip: Don't spend all your gold at once.
Save enough for healing and basic supplies.

Once you finish The Newcomer's Path, the city
opens up. Here are some directions:
Combat path:
- Clear the sewers of stronger creatures
- Hire a mercenary at the tavern for backup
- Train weapon skills at the Training Quarters
- Explore dungeons for better loot
Social path:
- Talk to NPCs, build relationships
- Learn about the city's factions
- Visit the Velvet Curtain for entertainment
Economy path:
- Learn crafting recipes at workshops
- Buy property and furnish a home
- Work your way up the merchant guild
Exploration path:
- Travel to other towns (Thornwood, Millhaven)
- Discover hidden locations and secrets
- Complete quest chains for faction reputation
Tip: Type /find to search for shops, trainers,
and services across the city.

you complete one stage, the next auto-starts.
Chain completion awards bonus gold + faction rep.

The Forest Road 3 stages (exploration)
Guard's Honor 4 stages (guard rep 10+)
Temple's Burden 3 stages (temple rep 5+)

Prerequisites:
Some chains require faction reputation or
completion of other chains before they
become available. Build rep by completing
quests, killing threats, and helping NPCs.

you can start and track your progress.

Three commands, three purposes:
EXAMINE — Inspect a specific thing
examine <npc> Detailed look at an NPC
examine <item> Inspect an item's properties
look at <thing> Same as examine (alias)
look / l See the whole room
SEARCH — Loot a body or scavenge
search <npc> Loot a knocked-out NPC's body
loot <npc> Same as search (alias)
scavenge Rummage through garbage dumps
EXPLORE — Scout the area for discoveries
explore Scout current area
Discovers adjacent locations (fog of war)
Perception check for hidden items
Advances time by one phase
